It feel good to Give!!

It feels good to give! And having the chance to give to such a great organization like the Make a Wish Foundation during the holiday season feels really good!!

This donation was generously made by all of the folks that registered and are participating in this year’s Blu Penny HandMade Holiday Ornament Exchange! We definitely have a stellar group of folks crafting it up this year :)

I hope that we may all take part in making some child’s wish come true this holiday season!!

on my desk :: the current state of affairs

This has been the current state of my art desk since before the Thanksgiving Holiday. A little bit of everything every where. A total working and functioning mess. Functioning being the key word. So, as long as I’m being productive I’m ok with the current state of disarray.

My work area always gets really messy when I’m busy. And I have a good feeling that my studio will soon look like a crafting bomb went off in it. I have a few big projects on the horizon that I’m looking forward to getting down and dirty with them :)

Switching it up and trying something new…

I’m switching it up and trying something new, or old depending on how you look at it. The past couple of months I’ve been having the urge to do some work off of the computer. I spend way too much time behind a screen and I’ve been experienceing some serious neck and back pain. I think it’s my bodies way of telling me that I need to stop sitting for hours on end hunched over a computer.

Of course, it’s not until my body is screaming at me that I take the steps to make a change and overcome my anxiety of not being able to Command “Z” away any ‘mistakes’. Silly right? But sometimes I have to be pushed to the edge and forced to make a directional decision.

So I am working with traditional media again!!! I broke out all of my paper collage files that I’ve been carting around since college when collage was my medium of choice. And boy did it feel good!! I was pulling out magazine clipping that were from the 80’s! Crazy!

So this is the first lady in a series of 4. Summer.

been making some ornaments

I’ve been super busy making ornaments over here…well that and figuring out how to also document it on video! I love learning new things :)

I can’t believe that there are only 2 more weeks left to register for the Ornament Exchange!! I think it’s gonna be a good one. We have some serious Savvy Crafters already signed up this year.

I’m so excited that I’ve already started playing the holiday music and I decided to get an early head start on making some ornaments!!

Do you wan to take a look and see how I made this cute fairy ornament. 4 hours worth of crafting goodness sped up to make this sweet little 3 minute video :) Ah…the magic of making movies. HA! This was my first time video documenting my process. I’m a total iMovie novice, but you can bet I’ll be doing more of this again soon!

If you want to have a go at making this ornament too I’ve made available a FREE printable pdf to download!!

And oh my gosh!! Don’t forget to register for the exchange!! It’s a ton of FUN and a fab reason to break out all those crafting supplies you have stashed away!!!

Share Out: emeals

I can’t cook!! No really I’m not very good at it. I can follow a recipe, but any time I try to just “whip something up” it tastes awful. Sometimes it’s just enough for me to boil water and throw in spaghetti. I have no imagination when it come to cooking and whenever I’ve tried to do meal planning I would get overwhelmed and sucked into searching for recipes that I would never cook.

Meal Planing has never worked for me. That is out until now!!

We’re in a new home and with that comes a fresh start, so I thought it was time for me to try cooking an actual dinner and do some weekly meal planning.

While I was googling “meal planning” I ran across emeals and knew this was the way to go. (BONUS I got a Groupon for the yearly plan!)

And let me tell you me and my Fam LOVES it!!! We have never eaten this many amazing home cooked meals! And what’s more surprising is that I actually don’t mind preparing and cooking the dishes. I think for me the hardest part was figuring out what to make. Now, mind you, I don’t cook all 7 of the meals recipes that they provide. We pick 2 or 3 and plan for leftovers. Our new routime is to take the grocery list that they give us and do our shopping on Sunday and then we’re set for the week. And oh my the shopping has also been so much easier!!

I picked the Clean Eating Plan and so far we’ve had spicy roasted salmon with roasted figs that were to die for, some super tasty tilapia, a variety of kale salads and some of the yummiest curried chicken I’ve ever had. Who knew that I can actually cook these super healthy and tasty meals!!

emeals has totally changed the way we do dinner around here!!
