My 29-Day Giving Challenge :: Day 13

A sick day:: Everyone deserves one right!?

I was super sick and feeling like my throat was on fire but I still some how managed to drag myself out of bed to bring Ava Blu to a pre-scheduled play date, then her final performance at her theater class and finally to the mall to see Santa, because I did promised and of all promises I definitely couldn’t break this one.

love and loving

I just ran across this quote on nie nie’s blog and just felt that I had to share it here. It spoke to me and is currently the undercurrent of my life right now.

Love is a temporary madness. It erupts like an earthquake and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being “in love” which any of us can convince ourselves we are. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident. Your mother and I had it, we had roots that grew towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossom had fallen from our branches we found that we were one tree and not two.

My 29-Day Giving Challenge :: Day 12

a little gift for a new member of planet earth ::

I was meeting a friend for dinner and as I was running errands around town I just knew I needed to pick up a little gift for his new little baby girl. At first I was a little unsure what to get and if it was even appropriate for me to give him something, because you see she wasn’t conceived the traditional way. My friend donated his sperm to his best friend and her partner. So, though this little girl is biologically his, he’s more of an uncle. It get’s a bit complicated, but who’s family isn’t complicated these days!? I mean really! In the end I felt like I needed to give her a little something to welcome her to this world!! She is one lucky little girl with so many people in her life that will love her and I just love that!! xoxox ❤

My 29-Day Giving Challenge :: Day 11

Some spare change :: A new LIDL member :: A helping hand

Gosh this was a big giving day.

So this morning on my way to my Monday Meeting, as I was exiting the Bart Station, I dropped a handful of change into the cup that was sitting in front of the man that was playing the clarinet. This is not something that I would normally do. Usually I’m running late and in too much of a rush to even bother to look inside my purse to see if I even have anything to offer. But today I’m glad I did.

Then it was off to my meeting where we were having a new member join us for the first time!! And she just just happened to be an old coworker of mine, that I now consider a friend. I’m so glad that she is going to join the inner circle of the LIDL ladies. She’s about to embark on a super exciting creative adventure and I’m super stoked for her :-) It’s so nice when you can get really excited for someone else. Too often we feel resentment or jealous when a peer succeeds. But I’m so happy to say that this is definitely not the case.

Then on the way out of the Bart Station I helped a tourist couple figure out how to use their bart tickets. ❤ ❤ ❤

My 29-Day Giving Challenge :: Day 10

ornament gifts :: crafting :: and facing the truth

Ava Blu and I spent the day crafting and making ornaments. Shrinky Dinks are an AMAZING medium. (Thanks for the inspiration Jen :) …and I ended the day with a tough conversation that forced me to face the truth about some things that have been looming. Not at all fun, but totally necessary in order to begin to move forward. So, Yeah!! For at least being brave enough to take a baby step forward.

My 29-Day Giving Challenge :: Day 9

 a gift of kind:: a car load and a 1/2 dropped off at the good will.

I spent the whole day cleaning out the laundry room. It was packed to the gills with unwanted and forgotten items that were once useful. I’ve been dreading cleaning it out because I knew it was going to take a whole day to do it and it totally did. By the time I was done I had a car load and a half of old baby clothes and things to donate to good will and a clean and organized space that is now actually useable!! Yeah on both fronts!!!

My 29-Day Giving Challenge :: Day 8

I running a bit behind chronicaling my giving challenge, but I promise you that I am doing it :-)

Boob Cancer Sucks ::

On the 5th of December Michelle Ward made a bad news announcement in the form of a song that touch the hearts of many, myself included. And the next day I just felt like I needed to send her a little healing love.

So. I quickly whipped this up and dropped it in the mail for her.  It’s not much but Hopefully it will brightened her day up a bit. Sometimes it’s the little things and that little bit of extra effort that makes all the difference.

Much love and healing Michelle!!

Sneak Peek :: At My Ornaments

I’ve been fighting off a wicked cold, and running on no energy, but at least wanted to share with you some of the ornaments I’ve been making for this year’s exchange.

They came out super cute and I can’t wait to ship them out to 3 unsuspecting members :-)

My 29-Day Giving Challenge :: Day 7

A Birthday Print for a Friend ::

I mounted and sealed print on artist board for a friend’s birthday. I’ve had all the supplies sitting here in my studio for weeks, and I’m happy to say that, her birthday was just the motivation I needed to actually do it. She received the very first one I’ve ever mounted!! So it was kind of a gift to both of us :)

The next day she sent me one of the sweetest thank you notes I’ve ever received!! She was so very appreciative and said that it was actually a bit synchronistic, because around her birthday every year she thinks about what she’d like bring into her life over the next year. And in 2012 she’s was thinking that it should be love and creativity!!

So, now I’ve given her a visual reminder. How amazing is that!!

My 29-Day Giving Challenge :: Day 6

A Walk in the Woods / A Trip to the Park / And a Tip ::

My gift today was to take Penny with me when I went on a hike to collect some sticks for my calendars. She just loves going with me. Running up ahead and then back to check in on me. Penny is by far one of the sweetest dog and a great companion.

But I wasn’t sure if that was enough. Did that gift count? I felt like I need to do more. So, before I took my daughter to theater class we stopped by the park to play outside for a bit. But that still didn’t feel like enough. I needed to do more. So, when I ordered a drink at the coffee shop I dropped the change into the tip jar. And a day of giving was complete :-)
