A Wonderland Kind of Halloween

You may remember me talking about how my daughter went about choosing her Halloween costume, and how she really wanted me to dress up as Strawberry Shortcake. Well, I got out of that, but then was quickly coerced into being part of her ensemble and was reassigned the part of the Red Queen.

Well how the heck was I going to be able to pull that off. I just happened to have this red bridesmaid’s dress sitting in the closed. It actually is a really nice dress that was custom made, but when was I ever going to wear it again? It had already been sitting there for over 4yrs.

So Ava Blu and I took a trip to Michael’s the day before Halloween, picked up some felt and glue so we could modify the dress. And along the way Ava Blu got her face painted. Random I know, but they had a table set up in the middle of the store, and were doing it for free. What kid could resist that?

Then we headed home and started transforming a bridesmaid dress into the Red Queen!!

And if I was going to have to dress up, then so was my husband. He was assigned to play the part of the Mad Hatter and it truly became a family affair.

I think I may have a future thespian on my hands, because the whole night we had to address her as Alice and she would reciprocate by calling me the Red Queen and instruct me to say my lines: “Off With Her Head!”.

We had a wonderful evening Trick or Treating with Ava Blu’s BFF and their family all around the Island. I’m not sure how we are going to top it next year.
